The story so far...

I used to read back issues of Ms. Magazine in college. By then, back in the stone age that was my college years (haha!), it was considered too “grim and determined” and flat out too “serious” by some of my friends. Ironically, when it first started out, it was viewed as too pop and lightweight by hardline feminists. The mag broke many barriers and I think the many women writers and editors today — from “serious” journalists to “lighthearted” pundits of pop culture — owe it a great deal. I certainly wouldn’t be a writer and editor without it. It kicked open the doors. Happy 40th, Ms. Magazine!
