MOVIES!
Finally paid back some of my increasing movie debt by watching two movies last week. Started off with Midnight in Paris last Friday, which I absolutely loved!! Woody Allen at his best! I think this is my best movie of the year.
Owen Wilson is funny as the neurotic Woody Allen stand-in. Wonder though if he got the acting instructions from Allen because I could totally see Woody in the role — a much, much younger Woody, though. And I didn’t know Ernest Hemingway was that hot when he was young! Whoa! And the casting was perfection!
Some quotes from the movie:
“The artist’s job is not to succumb to despair but to find and antidote for the emptiness of existence.” — Gertrude Stein (in the . Don’t know if she really said this. She probably did.)
and
“No subject is terrible if the story is true, the prose is clean and honest and if affirms courage and grace under pressure.” — Ernest Hemingway in the movie
Then last Sunday, I watched Paranormal Activity 3, in honor of Halloween. Pretty spooky stuff. It had some fabulously scary scenes, perfect for clutching the boyfriend/hubby (if I had one, haha). But I don’t know, it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve watched so many horror movies that I had gotten jaded about these movies’ scare factor, who knows. I have to watch Paranormal Activity 2 though, just to complete the trilogy, haha… Yes, I am a terrible completist!
